In order to overcome the negative emotional effects generated by the pandemic on young people, as well as to preserve and promote the intangible European cultural heritage and core European values, 6 youth NGOs from all over Europe developed the project Youth Playground, a project that will use European traditional games as a tool for generating non-formal educational experiences. The project will teach young people to cherish and promote their cultural heritage and European values while also improving their emotional wellbeing through physical activities.

IMPORTANT: Please take into consideration that is a draft schedule and that it might suffer changes based on the participants direct input, preferences, proposals or because of unexpected changes in the weather forecast during the mobility! Also, except for the intercultural evenings which are mandatory to attend, the other evening activities are optional – any suggestion for what we can do together as a group during the evening time is more than welcomed!

The BetterMaking Youth Foundation is an organization whose main goal is to provide valorous educational opportunities for youngsters which face the needs and necessities of the actual European society. We foster personal- and community development through our work and projects. By participating our activities, young people discover how they can make the most out of their hidden abilities, while also experiencing cooperation with people with different backgrounds and learning the European values in practice.

Age: European Young People between 18-25 years old

Each national team will consist of 1 group leader (no age restriction) and 5 young people.

Experience: previous experience in the field of non-formal education or Erasmus+ in not required

Language: basic English level is required

Willingness to disseminate the project and Erasmus+ Programme on your social media accounts and through local workshops after you return home to your local community!

1) Facilitation of activities In order to achieve the main aim of the project, a special working method will be applied during the project, as stated in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide regarding mobilities for young people. In this sense, each national team, with continuous support from the hosting organisation, will take up the role of the facilitator for a number of activities. This role includes responsibility for:

● Design of the activity prior to the project (basic structure, objectives and outcomes). In our case, each national team will be in charge of thoroughly preparing their own traditional games beforehand!

● Organization of the activity prior to the project (separation in groups, rules, deliverables, preparation of materials needed – the bettermaking Ifjúsági Alapítvány will be in charge of buying these materials)

● Coordination/Facilitation of the activity during the project (assuming active role as facilitators, explaining the activity to the rest of participants, time-management etc.)

2) Intercultural evenings We will have traditional evenings during the project through which you will have the chance to represent your country’s culture. Unfortunately, we don’t have budget to reimburse you the expenses made for the things that you are bringing, but try to be creative and funny! You can bring typical costumes, ornaments, leaflets, posters, flyers, food, sweets, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks… and so on! You can show videos, photos, sing and dance traditional dances from your countries! We are counting on you to make these evenings as interesting as possible and promise to help you in any way that we can!

3) Mind the weather Considering that most of the activities will be held outdoors and the temperatures in August can reach 30 degrees Celsius, please make sure you will bring suitable clothes, hats, comfortable shoes and sun cream factor +50.

Szentendre is a riverside town in Pest County, Hungary, between the capital city Budapest and Pilis-Visegrád Mountains. The town is known for its museums (most notably the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum), galleries, and artists. Due to its historic architecture and easy rail and river access, it has become a destination for tourists staying in Budapest.

Accommodation conditions:

Accommodation and food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be fully covered by the coordinator – the bettermaking Ifjúsági Alapítvány.

We will be hosted in rooms of 4-5 persons, in a camping on the bank of the Danube river, with generous outdoor space. Each room has a washbasin, while the showers and toilets are common. Smoking is forbidden in the rooms. Free Wi-Fi will be available and free.

We will try to do all the activities outside, to comply with Covid sanitary rules and to enjoy the nature, but we will also have an indoor activity room, if the weather is not helping us.

Food: We will take breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant of the camping. The menu will be based on each individual’s dietary needs, as stated in the application form.

WHAT TO BRING: reusable water bottle so we can cut down as much as possible the plastic waste, cosmetics (shampoo, shower gel etc.), towels, flip flops, beach towels, sunscreen, bathing suit (if you wish to use the venue’s pool). Also, given the close proximity to the Danube river bringing your own mosquito repellent spray or lotion is very important.

For those who want to explore Budapest or any other parts of Hungary, please consider coming one day before the mobility or staying one day longer after, on your own expenses.

Our venue is just 25 km away from Budapest, so it will be very easy to reach.
After you arrive at Budapest Airport, you will find several “BKK” automats (Budapest Public Transport), where you can buy single tickets (350 HUF each). In order to reach the public bus station where you can depart to Szentendre, you will need 2 single tickets.
From Budapest Airport you have to transfer to Ujpest-Varoskapu, Volanbusz bus station. For this, you should take line 200E from the Airport to Kobanya-Kispest M – metro station (final station on this bus).
After, take the blue metro line nr. 3 and travel to the final station Ujpest-Varoskapu. You may be asked after some stations to change for the metro replacement bus and after some stations to go back to the metro, because there is some construction going on. Don’t worry, it is not complicated.
From Ujpest-Varoskapu, Volanbusz station you can travel with the following bus lines to Szentendre:

The ride will take about 40 minutes and you will have to take off at Szentendre, Papszigeti bej. út . This stop is directly at the entrance of the venue.

*We do not cover taxi or private car (such as Uber or Bolt) transport costs from the Airport to the venue.

The international transportation costs will be reimbursed as following:

The BetterMaking Youth Foundation will follow, during the whole duration of the youth exchange, the Health Protocol regarding the security and protection of all the participants and staff. The protection and security measures will be in accordance with the legislation in force at the time of the face-to-face activity, always considering the indications of the Hungarian Ministry of Health, indications of accommodation and transport (international and national).

Previous to the project:

As a European travel rule, the travel of any participant who presents Covid-19 symptoms prior to the trip to Hungary is strictly forbidden. Each participant has the responsibility to check before the departure the rules and restrictions imposed for their country by the Hungarian Ministry of Healthy.

Health Insurance

Procuring a valid medical insurance during your stay in Hungary is your own responsibility. European Union citizens are entitled to have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which you can get for free from your health authorities and you can use it in Hungary and in any other EU country as well. Anyway, you can also choose a private insurance for the duration of your stay. Although it might be not mandatory to enter Hungary, if you choose to not have a health insurance you need to be ready to cover any medical related cost.

We strongly encourage you to get a medical insurance for your stay!

All the young people attending the youth exchange are entitled to receive an international certificate that validates the collection of key-competencies, knowledge and attitudes acquired or improved during the mobility. The Youthpass certificate can be used during the learning process as a self-reflection tool where you explore the following 8 Key competencies:
