Youth Exchange – Actividad subvencionada por la Unión Europea
Through the «Greener EU-rope» project, 50 participants, young people and their leaders will take part in a youth exchange in the Republic of Croatia, in the village of Malino, Oriovac Municipality, Brod-Posavina County. The youth exchange will bring together seven representatives of partner organizations from six countries. In addition to the hosts from Croatia, young people from Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Romania, Turkey, and Portugal will participate in the exchange. The project is aimed at young people with reduced opportunities who come from rural areas in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development, who, through the development of basic competencies, will adopt common fundamental values such as cultural interaction, strengthening social inclusion and solidarity of young people and environmental protection, on which the European Union is based and operates.
THE WORKING LANGUAGE OF THE YOUTH EXCHANGE WILL BE ENGLISH. Your English doesn’t need to be perfect – neither is ours! Better to try to speak even a little bit of English then to have no language communication at all.
The total travel costs (arrival and departure) for Spain are 275€ per participant
THE MAIN GOALS OF THE PROJECT
The goals of the project are closely related to the goals of the Erasmus+ and youth exchange programmes, namely the development of key competencies of young people with reduced opportunities in the field of environmental protection. Those goals are:
- To promote of intercultural and interreligious dialogue
- To encourage young people to actively participate in democratic life and the development of skills and attitudes of young people,
- To strengthen social inclusion and solidarity among young people
- To introduce young people to the socially important topic of environmental protection and sustainable development, thus encouraging their inclusion in society and active participation
- To encourage intercultural dialogue and learning, and a sense of belonging to Europe
- To empower young people through the adoption of competencies, tools, methods and skills through which they will adopt the common fundamental values on which the EU is based on and operates
THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT PERTAINING TO SOCIAL MOBILITY
The project is aimed at young people with reduced opportunities who come from rural areas. The young people involved in this youth exchange are young people with reduced opportunities who will gain the experience of international mobility in a safe group environment through group mobility. Part of the participants will be without experience or with minimal experience in the Erasmus+ program. Part of the young people from Croatia, domestic participants, will participate in an international project for the first time, including a project within the Erasmus+ program.
THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT PERTAINING TO THE ENVIRONEMENT
During the youth exchange, the participants will adopt:
- Ecologically sustainable and responsible behaviour
- How the EU cares and through which mechanisms it acts on environmental protection and sustainable development
- How young people can actively participate in the promotion and protection of nature
- Which opportunities green transition offers them in terms of personal growth and development.
During the exchange, young people will take care of the environment by integrating sustainable practices, such as choosing reusable or environmentally friendly materials, waste reduction and recycling as well as the use of sustainable modes of transportation.
The project is organized by and for young people. Our activities during the preparation, implementation, evaluation and the follow up phase ensure the active participation of young people in each stage of the project. We want the project to make a positive change in the life of young participants and thus we value their reaction, opinion and feedback at every step of this project.

COST OF ACOMMODATIONS AND FOOD
The cost of accommodation and food is 100% covered by the Erasmus+ programme. Travel costs are budgeted according to Erasmus + conditions (using the EU distance calculator).
TRAVEL TIPS (ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE)
The participants should arrive in Malino, Croatia on 21.9.2022. and depart on 28.9.2022.
You are invited to use the most environmentally friendly means of travel such as trains or buses. Croatia is well connected to international train and bus lines, and Malino is well connected to Croatian train and bus lines. After all, our project is all about protecting and breathing together with nature, so, we say, GO GREEN! 😀 If, however, you chose to travel by plane, we recommend choosing the airport in Zagreb. You can also use the nearby airports in Budapest (Hungary) or Belgrade (Serbia) since it is possible to reach Slavonski Brod or Nova Gradiška from those destinations. There are three main options for reaching Malino once you are in Zagreb:
OPTION 1: When you arrive to the Zagreb airport you can use a train that gets you directly to Malino. In case that a direct train to Malino doesn’t fit your needs you can travel to Nova Kapela and from there we will pick you up (it is just one stop away from Malino).
OPTION 2: You can travel from Zagreb by train to Slavonski Brod and then take another train to Malino or to Nova Kapela
OPTION 3: You can travel from Zagreb by bus and go to Nova Gradiška or Slavonski Brod. From there you can use the train to Malino or Nova Kapela, or you can just travel to Nova Gradiška or Slavonski Brod and we will pick you up, but you need to inform us of your traveling agenda so that we can help you.
COVID PRECAUTIONS & RESPONSIBILITY FOR EARLY STAYS OR OVERSTAYS
Please take into consideration that the even though there are no strict epidemiological measures in Croatia right now, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing throughout the world, therefore we suggest trying to stay safe and healthy during the journey.
Please take care of yourselves and others.
WE KINDLY REMIND YOU THAT EARLY ACCOMMODATIONS BEFORE THE PROJECT STARTS AND EXTRA OVERSTAYS WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
THE PHILOSOPHY OF OUR ACCOMMODATIONS
When it comes to accommodations and your stay in Malino, we have prepared special conditions for your overall experience. You will be hosted on our premises for which we have built sustainable, eco-friendly and natural “hobbit houses.”
We built this place with a lot of love by respecting nature and with the intention of offering a part of a fairy tale in a unique environment. Everything that you will see there comes from our creative mind and it was created using materials that we could find in nature – this is very important for us. In that way we are zero waste and environmentally friendly, Robinson kind of people.
We highlight the fact that our accommodations are a Robinson style of accommodations that tells the story about how it is important to take care of nature, but also, what you can do with what nature can offer you.
Also, we understand that people nowadays live in a modern, technologically developed society – our premises are not like this. We will take you and bring you into a fairy tale, in a place where you can find your inner peace and discover yourself again.
Of course, we do have water, electricity, internet etc. and we are not far away from all the things that you might need: stores, hospitals, bars, train station, bus station and all the other things that make us modern people, therefore you will not felt isolated.
SLEEPING CONDITIONS
When it comes to night-time and sleeping, you will sleep in sleeping bags. Maybe this sounds scarry to you, but this is a part of the learning experience, and it goes along with our story about an environmentally friendly Robinson fairy tale. This is a small step outside your comfort zone, but a big step for personal empowerment.
EATING CONDITIONS
In our accommodations we will offer you 3 meals a day and coffee breaks. When it comes to food, you will eat organic and local food prepared by us. It is only the best that nature can offer you and we will bring it to you and serve it with lots of love. Our accommodations and environment will help in the process of your personal development and our food will satisfy your personal needs.
We will take care of your needs and if you are vegan, vegetarian or omnivorous we will offer healthy and eco-friendly (organic) food to you. If you have any special needs when it comes to food, please let us know in the application form and we will take care of it.

For the airplane tickets you will have to pay using the bank services (online transfer, payment order, etc.), even if you are buying them online or directly from the airlines company (or another travel agency). During the project you will also need to provide evidence that you paid your tickets to the amount that you claim. If you buy tickets online, we will need bank transaction evidence, and if you pay by cash, we need to have the original bill with all the information.
WE WILL CHECK THE VALIDITY OF YOUR TICKETS
We’ve had some experiences where participants tended to fake their tickets in order to get more money for them. In the case that you do that you will be sent home without reimbursement and we will report your act to the National agency.

An invoice for the tickets.

It is necessary that all participants on this youth exchange have travel insurance. So, buy travel insurance for the dates of this youth exchange. If you have an EU health card, please bring it with you. If you have a passport, please bring it with you.
WHEN TO EXPECT REIMBURSEMENT

We will transfer money to your NGO bank account, and they will send you money on your account, or, we can transfer money to bank account of group leader.
Please note that we cannot reimburse your travel costs if you lose your tickets, or we do not receive all details and proofs of your expenses!
All workshops will take place in the Pavletić Theme Park, managed by the Arteco Pavletić Association. It is a park that abounds in numerous works of art set up outdoors, made from discarded materials from nature. In addition to the artistic component, the Park is full of natural beauties such as streams, plants and trees.
During the preparation of the workshops, representatives of all partner organizations participated in their development and formation, and a framework was set by which the goals, activities and results of the exchange contribute to the goals of the Erasmus+ program and the goals and strategies of partner organizations.
After the selection of participants by the partner organizations, the participants will participate in co-creating the workshops through group meetings with their national facilitator.
Following that, the leaders will consult with each other and agree on all the necessary and important details before coming to the youth exchange. Details will be defined during the youth exchange leaders’ meeting and at the national coordination meetings.
